You're probably still confused on what Yaoi means or what bl stands for. You heard a couple of friends say it, or you just saw some descriptions online. Better yet you heard me say that word on my website. Or even worse your comrade online mentions she/he loves yaoi and is a "fangirl". And You're just like, "Uhm what is Yaoi. What in the world does BL stand for? Seriously its pissing me off..."
LOL! Well you're definitely in luck! I'm going to explain, describe and show you what bl and yaoi is like! If you're a guy then you'll probably not like what is going to be in the contents of these page. But if you're a girl then you "might" like it. (If your older then 30 then you might just get mad lol)
Anywho lets get right to it!
Bl is a genre for most anime and manga's. Im quite sure its a Japanese word. Bl stands for Boy love. The reason why the call it that is because in anime's/manga's, instead of a female character falling in love with a male character, its a Male character falling in love with another male character.
Now males, I know what you're thinking. "This is gay man, why would people like this?!?!?!"
Well I hate to break it to you, but females watch Bl anime and read Bl manga because it relates to them.
I'll provide an example:
There's the male character in an anime that hangs out with his best guy friend every day. He always felt comfortable around him. He would always be protected by him because for some odd reason the male character would always get bullied or be called a girl. Even though he's quite clear that he's a male. Then one day he starts to develop feelings for his friend. And so he thought he was straight but he was incorrect! He starts to try to tell his best friend that he likes him and that he wants to be with him and all that stuff but its very hard. He then finally confesses his feelings to him but his friend gets confused. Or worse he likes someone else! Later on his friend accept his feelings and they go out.
Ahem.. remove the main male character and replace it with a female character. Do you see the resemblance? If so thats what I'm talking about. Girls really relate to this! I heard lots of stories similar to this type. And that concludes your question on why girls like Bl manga/anime. (probably even gay men shows and movies. So not only did you learn what Bl is, you just learned why girls like that stuff.)
Now that you are familiar with Bl lets get right into yaoi.
This is a bit graphical word so I'll hesitating a lot to explain much about this word.
